Les Mis Loving

You saw Les Mis, right?

I was lucky enough to see it with ALL of my siblings and their wives. DREAMY.

You sobbed and blubbered and soared in your theater seat like I did, right?

I LOVED IT.

I’ve seen it on Broadway, been in a production while in college, seen just about every movie based on the story and have the soundtrack memorized. (I much prefer the London cast.)

During Fantine’s “I Dreamed a Dream” I was crying so hard, thinking of my personal rock bottoms and emoting like a crazy person that Mr. R put his arm around me to comfort me. (Or to get fresh, but probably to comfort.)

I expected to be moved by that song. I anticipated it. I prepared myself emotionally.

But, I was not prepared for Eponine’s line, “He was never mine to lose.”

That line hit me like a ton of bricks and I thought about that baby we held for 3 days before we went home with his mama.

Deep. Thoughts. Very deep.

And the beautiful new song added to the score?

Did you know it was written just for Hugh Jackman to sing as Valjean when he first became Cosette’s father?

Lest this post get too heavy, please tell me you have seen this and laughed your brains out.

I die every time.

Oh Les Mis. How I love thee.

I can’t wait to bring it home on DVD on Friday. HECK YES.
